Pora Pola, born Zapora and named after the biblical figure Zipporah, is an Oakland, California–based artist whose music reflects strength, intention, and creative depth. Her journey began in church, where she started singing and playing piano at the age of nine. By sixteen, she was directing the choir while independently teaching herself beat production, recording, and songwriting.
Inspired by influential producers and driven by curiosity, Pora Pola began creating music on GarageBand before expanding her workflow to include the MPC, keyboards, and Pro Tools. Her sound blends technical precision with emotional honesty—offering listeners a raw yet intentional experience.
Growing up in Oakland presented limited creative outlets and personal challenges. At twenty-one, she lost her father during a pivotal moment in her self-discovery. Despite adversity and financial hardship, she remained focused, working three jobs while completing an internship and earning her Bachelor’s degree in Music Production from the Academy of Art University in 2022.
Now fully independent, Pora Pola has built her own studio and continues to move with purpose—creating music that reflects resilience, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her craft.
